Lori's Rebuild
A Mission of Restoration: The Story of Lori’s Home
When a close friend reached out about a devastating house fire, I knew this wasn't just another project for Green Bee Construction, Inc. Lori had not only lost her home, but was facing a storm of unlicensed contractors and complex paperwork during a time of extreme distress. As a widow who had previously relied on her late husband to manage their finances, she needed a shield. I immediately felt a divine calling to step in—not just as a contractor, but as a servant—to help this widow rebuild her life here in Nevada County.
The challenges were significant, particularly when it became clear that the insurance payout wouldn't cover the true cost of a modern rebuild. However, the spirit of Grass Valley construction is defined by how we show up for one another. Leveraging the deep roots of Green Bee Construction, Inc. in the local industry, I reached out to my network of tradespeople and vendors. The response was nothing short of miraculous. From expert insurance adjusters who helped us secure the necessary funds to local legends like MEC Roofing (who provided a free roof and gutters) and Sierra Timberline (who donated a fireplace), the community poured out their support.
This rebuild has become a testament to what is possible when Grass Valley businesses come together. Partners like Hills Flat Lumber and Tahoe Truckee Lumber provided materials at cost, while professionals like Penrose Plumbing and Guerette Electric offered deeply discounted services. We even had volunteers showing up to provide free labor. It has been a humbling experience to witness such serendipitous favor; seeing the project featured on CBS News was just a glimpse of the incredible momentum behind Lori’s journey.
Today, as we move through the final stages of this build, it is obvious that a higher hand has been guiding this process. At Green Bee Construction, Inc., we are honored to lead this effort, proving that construction in Nevada County is about more than just wood and nails—it’s about restoration, faith, and the power of a community that refuses to let one of its own fall behind.
